Thirty years of HOPE

May 09, 2017

Most will gift pearls to celebrate their 30 year anniversary, but not us. We’re going the more practical route with a gift of $300,000 to support local non-profits through CREB® Charitable Foundation’s Investing in HOPE program.

Created to support communities where CREB® members live and work, Investing in HOPE has contributed more than $6 million to a wide-range of non-profit organizations in the community.

“The investing in HOPE program is so special for so many reasons,” said Aneve MacKay-Lyons, manager for CREB®‘s Charitable Foundation. “We increased program funding again this year, but what’s most exciting is the timing of everything. Our 30 year legacy has helped numerous charities and with this being our biggest funding initiative ever, we’re about to be a part of something incredibly impactful for local families and the community.”

This year, the charities selected will either support affordable housing, shelter-related initiatives or provide sustainability for the community.

Each charity will receive a grant of either $125,000, $100,000 or $75,000.

“The most interesting thing about Investing in HOPE is that it is a grassroots program,” said Rob Campbell, president for CREB®’s Charitable Foundation. “It’s very unique because REALTORS® can put forward a charity that they or one of their clients is involved which allows them to see the result of that giving.”

How does the program work?

Local charities are selected through a nomination process based on fit within the categories of funding that CREB®’s foundation supports.  From there, members then cast their votes for their favourite charity.

While nominations and votes can only be cast by REALTORS®, we encourage the public to get involved in the conversation.

Contact your local real estate professional and tell them what non-profit you think would be the perfect fit for an Investing in HOPE grant.

Nominations are open from Friday, June 9 to Friday, June 30.
