Calgary condo developers go all-in on innovative amenities

As Calgarians place greater emphasis on recreation and active living, condo developers are moulding their amenities to match. A string of amenity-rich, multi-family residential projects are hitting the market, offering up everything from rooftop communal gardens to yoga studios. Here are some of the highlights.

The Annex
Designed by Calgary's Nyhoff Architecture and located in the heart of Kensington, the latest landmark project from Minto Communities, The Annex, embraces energy efficiency and sustainability. But what really differentiates this project is its rooftop amenity space that caters to outdoorsy types who love their pets. It offers plenty of green space for socializing, along with community gardens and a dog run.
"Pets and urban living can sometimes be a challenge," said Tabitha Tessier, marketing manager for Minto Communities – Canada. "We wanted to provide a space that made living easier and more comfortable for pets and their companions."

Park Point
Gorgeous views of downtown and the groomed gardens, bubbling fountains and stone architectural features of Central Memorial Park, define the 34-storey Park Point condo project in the Beltline. The Vancouver developer behind the project, Qualex-Landmark, knows the power of location, combined with in-house amenities that create a strong sense of community.

"We provide useful amenities that stand the test of time," said Parham Mahboubi, vice-president of planning and marketing for Qualex-Landmark. At Park Point, those amenities include a concierge, Zen terrace with adjacent fire pit, barbecue and outdoor dining area, yoga/pilates studio, and cardio and weight room with steam room and infrared sauna.

Radius
Vancouver-based Bucci Development's new Radius condo project is a stone's throw from the action in Bridgeland. Adding to the community's over-the-top amenities, Radius offers a spin room; yoga/barre studio; concierge; rooftop patio with 10-foot, double-sided fireplace; two cardio and weight gyms; and lounge and barbecue stations. It even boasts a grocery delivery room – SPUD delivers to Radius five days a week.

"Our developments tend to attract like-minded homebuyers who are wanting to achieve a similar lifestyle," said Chelsey Marshall, director of sales, marketing and leasing for Bucci Developments. "We are always considering features and amenities that will help to enable that lifestyle."

Westman Village
Located along the shores of Lake Mahogany, Jayman Built's Westman Village offers a resort-style environment with concierge services and a 40,000-square-foot central amenity facility. The community caters to homebuyers in all stages of life, including those keen on aging in place, while the amenity centre offers everything from pilates and saltwater pools to a golf simulator and wine room.

"What really sets the development apart are the amenities and the self-contained structure of Westman Village," said Jay Westman, chairman and CEO of Jayman Built.
