REALTORS® serving Calgary and area

REALTORS® are more than just individuals authorized to sell real estate – they are dedicated professionals, members of the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) and adhere to a specific code of ethics called the REALTOR® code. They have a passion for helping people, making connections and working towards positive outcomes.

If this sounds like a career path that suits your personality and career goals, you may be a great fit for the real estate world.

Licensing

To join the industry in Alberta, you must first obtain your real estate license and associated authorization to trade real estate in the province. For more information about the licensing process, check out the Real Estate Council of Alberta's (RECA) step-by-step guide to becoming licensed. To learn more about RECA and the role they play in real estate, visit out Who's Who in Real Estate page.

Picking a broker

Once licensed, prospective REALTORS® must then join a local real estate brokerage and submit application for licencing through RECA.

Choosing a broker is an important step. Through this process, you’ll interview a number of brokerages to ensure you get the leadership and support you need to start your career off on the right foot.

Check out our Who's Who in Real Estate page to find the definition of a brokerage.

Your local organized real estate community

Once you join a real estate brokerage, you are able to become a member of the Calgary Real Estate Board (CREB®), the Alberta Real Estate Association (AREA) and the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA)

These associations play a large role in your work as a real estate professional. Want to know how? Head to the Who's Who of Real Estate page for more.

Want to become a CREB® member? Your broker will review the membership requirements and initial costs to join. You can also contact our Member Services Centre at 403-781-5454 or support@creb.ca for more information.
