Grants from the CREB® REALTOR® Community Foundation support programs designed to create new housing, keep people housed and improve housing quality.

Since 1987, CREB® REALTORS® have invested more than $9.8 million into communities across Calgary and the surrounding area—supporting 166 non-profit organizations focused on housing and shelter, as of the 2025 grant cycle.

Legacy Grants – create new housing

A Legacy Grant is the largest and most substantial investment from CREB® REALTOR® Community Foundation. Funding from this giving stream is designed to make a substantial impact and create new housing and shelter options in the community.

2025–2027 Legacy Grant Recipient:

Community Grants – keep people housed

A Community Grant from CREB® REALTOR® Community Foundation is designed to fund major repairs or renovations to existing housing and/or shelter supply, with the purpose of keeping people housed in the community totaling $75,000.

A Transformation Grant from CREB® REALTOR® Community Foundation provides funding for minor renovation projects to existing infrastructure, with the purpose of improving housing quality for the community’s most vulnerable.

2020 Community & Transformation Grant Recipients

In keeping with its long history of giving to help build self-sustaining communities, CREB® REALTOR® Community Foundation has granted $65,000 in funding to support six local non-profit organizations.

The Foundation is awarding funds through its Community and Transformation Grant programs, which focus on keeping people housed and improving housing quality.

The following organizations were selected as 2020 grant recipients:

Funds from this year’s Legacy Grant went to Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta as part of a $1 million capital investment and three-year partnership that helped create 32 new housing units for low-income working families.

2018 - 2020 Legacy Grant Partnership

CREB® REALTOR® Community Foundation has partnered with Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta on a three-year capital project.

This investment will create home ownership opportunities for 32 low-income families and, for many, the first chance to experience home ownership.

National Housing Day

To celebrate National Housing Day in the second year of our community partnership, our members pulled out all the tools and got down to work building homes under construction in Silver Springs.

For over 30 years, our members have invested in Calgary and area communities.

Prior to having our new granting structure in place that supports housing and shelter related initiatives, we contributed to many organizations in our community. Much of that work was done through our former giving program, Investing in HOPE.
