The Karen Gammie Memorial Fund was established by CREB® REALTOR® Community Foundation to recognize 1989 REALTOR® of the Year and Foundation past-president Karen Gammie and her contribution to organized real estate and the community.

Before her successful career as a REALTOR®, she served her community working as a nurse. For this reason, the scholarship is awarded to a student in a full-time, course-based Master of Nursing program with a stated interest in pediatric nursing.

“Karen was a real bright light in our industry – she was professional, thorough and a pleasure to work with,” says Gammie's colleague and former neighbour Ted Zaharko, a Calgary real estate professional for over 45 years. “Her passing was a loss to our industry.”

“Karen was a bright light in the early days of our Charitable Foundation,” adds Harvey Gamble, recipient of the 1992 REALTOR® of the Year Award. “She had a genuine passion for it and motivated others to follow. Sadly, she left us far too early. But I am glad that her memory lives on through this scholarship.”
