Calgary and area REALTOR® community to invest $300,000 in the creation of new housing options

City of Calgary, March 22, 2021 –

The 2021 Legacy Grant application is now open from CREB® REALTOR® Community Foundation to support the creation of new housing options in Calgary and area communities.

Through the investment of local REALTORS®, $300,000 is available in this year’s Legacy Grant for non-profit organizations working to solve complex needs around housing and shelter. The grant will be awarded as either a one-time contribution or through a multi-year funding partnership.

“Our Legacy Grant is about making a substantial impact on the supply of safe and affordable housing in the community,” said Murray Scotton, chair of CREB®’s REALTOR® Community Foundation. “The funding that we provide through this grant program will go a long way to expanding the range of housing options at a time when people really need it.”

The Legacy Grant is the Foundation’s signature funding stream designed to support the creation of new housing and shelter options for those who need it most.

“Our non-profit partners are doing all kinds of amazing work and we want to support that effort,” said Jason Yule, CREB®’s director of communications. “By funding new housing and shelter projects, we can contribute to building a wider pool of options and move toward our vision of empowering self-sustaining communities.”

The Legacy Grant application will be open until May 21 and successful applicants will be notified by June 30.

Full instructions on how to apply are available on creb.com/community_investment.

Prospective applicants should read all requirements information and funding criteria prior to entering the submission process.
