Calgary REALTOR® recognized for dedication to organized real estate
City of Calgary, June 7, 2022 – Calgary REALTOR® Ellyn Mendham received the 2021 Volunteer of the Year - Marilyn Jones Memorial Award, at the Calgary Real Estate Board’s (CREB®) Diamond Gala on June 3.
This accolade is presented to a CREB® member who embodies the spirit of volunteerism, makes outstanding contributions to the real estate industry, and inspires other to do the same. The award commemorates the late Marilyn Jones, a local REALTOR® who was a devoted volunteer throughout her career.
“I knew Marilyn personally so being presented with this award is absolutely amazing! We worked together, we volunteered together and every time I went to CREB®, there she was,” said Mendham at the Diamond Gala on Friday evening. “To be honoured in her name is just remarkable.”
Mendham has been a REALTOR® for over 40 years and has been an active volunteer throughout her career. In 1993, Mendham became CREB®'s 50th president and was different from many of her predecessors as she was an associate, not a broker. Since then, she has spent decades volunteering on numerous CREB® committees and as Chair of CREB®’s Critical Illness Benefit Society in 2017.
In addition to her involvement with CREB®, Mendham has dedicated much of her time to organized real estate, chairing the Real Estate Insurance Exchange and serving on the Alberta Real Estate Association’s board of directors.
Mendham was previously recognized for her commitment to the industry in 2005 when she was presented with CREB®’s REALTOR® of the Year – T.W.H. (Bill) Saunders Memorial Award, which is one of the most prestigious accolades a CREB® REALTOR® can receive.
“Ellyn is a great role model and team player who invests her time in organized real estate for the best of reasons,” said CREB® President and CEO Alan Tennant. “She is always willing to step up and once she does, she comes prepared, collaborates with her peers and passionately leads by example.”
