Calgary and area REALTORS® invest $1 million in Calgary Dream Centre for affordable housing development
City of Calgary, June 20, 2025 – CREB® REALTOR® Community Foundation has awarded a $1 million Legacy Grant to support the Calgary Dream Centre with the development of affordable housing for vulnerable women and mothers with children.“The Calgary Dream Centre is making meaningful strides toward creating safe, affordable housing that directly addresses urgent needs in our community,” said Christian Twomey, Chair of the CREB® REALTOR® Community Foundation. “We’re incredibly proud to support a project that not only creates a housing solution, but also dignity and hope for one of our city’s vulnerable populations.”
The Calgary Dream Centre has a wide variety of programs, from addictions recovery to housing solutions and even lifelong support through its alumni network. These programs are designed to uplift and transform lives while building a stronger community.
“The Calgary Dream Centre is honoured and deeply grateful to be named the successful applicant for the CREB® Legacy Grant. This vital contribution will directly support building Erlton House, a safe, affordable housing community for women and mothers with children, and will open doors of hope and opportunity for those seeking stability and belonging,” said Craig Hill, CEO of the Calgary Dream Centre.
“CREB®'s leadership and impact within our city extends far beyond the housing market. They understand that home isn't just about square footage but about creating strong communities where people can truly thrive. Their support through the Legacy Grant doesn't just allow us to break ground; it empowers us to break barriers and transform lives. Thank you, CREB®, for your visionary commitment and investment in our community.”
The CREB® REALTOR® Community Foundation Legacy Grant will support the Calgary Dream Centre’s Erlton House project, which involves construction of a three-story building with 56 condo units equipped with full amenities. When complete, the units will be called home by vulnerable women and mothers with children. Erlton House will also feature a green space, communal gathering areas and an outdoor play area to foster a sense of community with its residents.
The Legacy Grant is the foundation’s signature funding stream designed to create new housing options. Funds granted to Calgary Dream Centre will be delivered over three years with the final installment in 2027.
