Open house: Future concepts for Anderson LRT Station

The City is looking for residents input on the future of Anderson Station.

The Office of Land Servicing and Housing (OLSH) will be at Southcentre Mall today from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. to share the latest information with Calgarians regarding transit oriented development at Anderson Station.

"Last year, we had hundreds of citizens participate in our public engagement process where they were asked to provide input into four concepts that showed different options for what the 20-acre site could look like in the future," said John Potts, manager, Land Servicing, OLSH.

A little rest and relaxation

Recreation properties offer a scenic and serene home away from home

The dip of a paddle in the lake, the sizzle of a steak on the barbecue, the haunting hoot of a Great-Horned Owl: welcome to recreational living.

In a recreation survey conducted by the Alberta government, the top three favourite leisure activity of respondents was walking, golf and camping. Luckily for Albertans, lake and recreation living
is within short drives of all major centres.

Alberta homebuyers could soon have more protection in place to ensure they don't buy former grow-ops without their knowledge.

Last week, the government released a report titled Grow-Op Free Alberta Recommendations concerning proposed legislation to combat the ill effects of marijuana grow operations on Albertans, their homes and
neighbourhoods.

Punchy pansies

Hardy flowers for the cool spring season

A giant cardboard box of flowers arrived last week. Every plant was primly upright and not a drop of soil had escaped a single pot.

What?

Who gets their annuals shipped in?

Alberta economy outshines rest of Canada

Alberta's economy is expected to grow by 3.5 per cent this year, nearly triple the national average of 1.2 per cent, according to a recent report from BMO Capital Markets Economics and BMO Commercial Banking's Blue Book.

The continued positive outlook is largely due to the province's energy sector and related industries.

"Oil and gas companies still dominate the scene, but we see significant opportunity for firms that support the industry spinoffs," said Mike Darling, BMO's regional vice-president of commercial banking for southern Alberta. "This particularly applies to the engineering sector, where our clients are experiencing considerable growth."
