Earlier this year, friends and family of murdered real estate agent Lindsay Buziak held a memorial march in Saanich, B.C.

Five years have passed since the 24-year-old woman was stabbed to death while showing a luxury home in the Victoria suburb. Police believe she was lured to the vacant home and killed by someone posing as a homebuyer.

Half of Canadian Homeowners Plan to Renovate

It's the season of home renovations and according to the Scotiabank Mortgage Landscape Study, 46 per cent of Alberta homeowners are planning significant renovations to their home in the next two years.

Albertans are the second most likely of all Canadian homeowners to have a major reno project planned, ranking only behind the Atlantic provinces where 47 per cent of homeowners planned to renovate.

No one does any pruning in the wild. Not unless you consider the effects of high winds and branches ripped off by moose-in-rut pruning. But the city is a different kind of place. We have small spaces and big dreams. We want tidy even if our stated goal is low maintenance.

83% Comfortable

In its 2013 Spring Survey, the Canadian Association of Accredited Mortgage Professionals (CAAMP) found 83 per cent of respondents are comfortable with their loan to value ratio on their primary residence.

When it comes to debt, first-time homebuyers show the most concern at 65 per cent compared to 23 per cent of other homebuyers. Canadians seem to show a lot of concern for their neighbours as well with 41 per cent replying they were somewhat concerned with debt other Canadians hold down from 58 per cent in 2012.
