No one is really wrecking Sunnyside; though Wreck City, a community of artists, is giving nine houses in the area a new look.

The nine houses in the Calgary community of are set for demolition but, thanks to a partnership with Bucci Developments Ltd., the buildings are playing their swan songs in a pretty spectacular way.

Pea sprout greens are the coolest thing I have grown so far this year. Yes it's still weeks away from growing outdoors in Calgary but my little pea sprouts have been making a statement in salads for months already.

The sprout snips are sweet and fragrant and taste like – well – peas.

Calgary youths taking the initiative to create more eco-friendly communities could receive funding up to $1,000 through The Jack Leslie Youth Environmental Grant now accepting applications.

The grant is named for former Calgary Mayor Jack Leslie, for the positive impact he had both on the city itself as well as the environment, and is awarded to those whose projects are located in Calgary; directly benefit the local environment and are planned and implemented by youth.

Authour, award winning journalist, columnist with CBC radio and the Calgary Herald and blogger (GardenGuru.net); Balzer took some time out of her busy schedule to share her love of gardening including which plant she wishes she could grow here in Calgary.

Having spent the last eight years in a multitude of roles at Calgary's Spruce It Up Garden Centre, born and raised Calgarian Joanne Dafoe knows what it takes to get things growing in this city. Since graduating with a major in Horticulture and Landscape Design, Dafoe has served as landscape co-ordinator, green goods buyer and even store manager.

When contractor Kelly Kask started storing overflow construction pieces in his home garage five years ago, it was only a matter of time before that one garage turned into two, which turned into 10, which turned into the addition of three warehouses which turned into the reclamation company with both a Calgary location and a newly opened location in Vancouver.
