In an effort to increase the amount of Calgarians stepping into the role of homeowner, Attainable Homes Calgary Corporation (AHCC) has announced new income criteria.
AHCC President and CEO David Watson explained the median income of Calgarians was based on data from 2006. When updated to Statistic Canada's numbers for 2011, AHCC decided it was time to take another look at its income criteria.

CREB® Lobbybox Program Growing
After a positive pilot project, a program adopted by CREB® promoting the safety of both REALTORS® and residents of apartment-style buildings is growing.
After an attack on a local REALTOR® in November 2011, one downtown building adopted CREB®'s Lobbybox program last summer followed by a second building soon after. By Labour Day, 20 buildings in the city will have the new feature.

Putting Your Art Centre Stage
As an interior designer, I'm often called upon to assist clients with displaying artwork and photographs. My personal preference for less is more in design often comes into play in these situations. It's just a good idea to display multiples and groups of images on one wall, leaving some walls empty. The temptation to fill every open piece of drywall with framed art is a common mistake of new homeowners and it can make or break the décor of a room. It's best to have just a few focal points and some negative space.

Secondary Suites Debate Continues
The path to legal secondary suites in Calgary may get a little easier, in some neighbourhoods.
A report released by the City's planning department is recommending changes to the way the suites are handled. City bureaucrats have suggested easing permit requirements in certain districts, such as areas within walking distance of major transit stops and postsecondary schools.
