REALTORS® on screen: memorable fictional real estate agents from TV and film

Recently, production began on a new Syfy TV series centred around a real estate company specializing in haunted or "metaphysically engaged" properties. The series, aptly titled The Surrealtor, might seem like a kooky concept, but REALTORS® have long made for compelling characters on screen.

Here are six of the most memorable fictional real estate agents from TV and film.

Net migration figures point to housing market bounce back

It's been a challenging year for Calgary's resale housing market, which is still feeling the effects of two recession years in 2015 and 2016.

While the economy has rebounded, it has been at a slow pace, and this has been evident in the real estate industry. As of the end of June, year-to-date MLS® System sales in the resale market totalled 8,553 units, down 17.1 per cent in the city compared with the same period a year ago.

Making a comeback

Calgary's commercial real estate market could be poised for a rebound in 2018

All eyes will be on Calgary's commercial real estate market this year, with hopes that the downtown office sector, which continued to struggle in 2017, will rebound in 2018.

The office market has grabbed everyone's attention over the past three years, as vacancy rates have soared to historically high levels following the collapse of oil prices and the subsequent waves of layoffs that ravaged employment ranks in downtown Calgary. Thousands of people were cut loose, and a vast amount of office space suddenly became vacant in the downtown core.
