Teamwork fuels Neustaedter and Associates

Brokerage believes in its community commitments

Whether helping children around the world access clean drinking water, joining Calgarians in planting trees or helping you find or sell a home, Jeff Neustaedter & Associates is ready to show the power of teamwork.

Neustaedter began selling homes in 2000, later joining Re/Max House of Real Estate and launching his own business. He established a seven-strong REALTOR® team including his brother and original partner, Ray Neustaedter, along with Rod Burriss, Mark Lockhart, Candace Randall, Mark Lofgren and Randy Merkley. To Neustaedter and his team, there is more to doing business than just selling homes. Philanthropy is a cornerstone of the firm's culture.

The team has pledged to purchase one water filter for every house it sells in 2014. These filters, developed at the University of Calgary, will be distributed to families in need around the world by the Samaritan's Purse organization.

Last year, the team purchased more than 400 filters and donated more than $40,000 to the cause.

"Water filters are a basic need," said Neustaedter. "Our team members all have a common belief, and it's nice to be able to do something."

Burriss, who has been with the team for seven and a half years, said being able to help those in need "is just as important as selling real estate. It's a personal thing that I agree with 100 per cent. All of us look at opportunities to give."

Closer to home, the team recently took part in a Harvest Festival in Tuscany where it gave out some 3,000 saplings.

Coincidentally, this was not long after the early September blizzard that devastated many of Calgary's trees.

"It's fun when you have a goal and a purpose; it makes it about more than just looking after your own needs," Neustaedter said of the efforts, as well as other initiatives like participating in a five kilometre run to benefit the Alberta Children's Hospital.

He adds a key to his team's success – it scored 367 successful sales in 2013, with 2014 on track to be its best year ever – is the fact it does not work in isolation.

"Customers are never left hanging; they always have a lot of support," said Neustaedter. "With us, it's all about the team."
