Heritage Calgary marks 25 years with new report
Heritage Calgary is marking its 25th anniversary with the release of a new report, Heritage Calgary at 25: From Vision to Impact, exploring the organization’s history and the evolution of heritage conservation in Calgary.
Established under the Calgary Heritage Authority Act in 2000, the organization has played an ongoing role in identifying, evaluating, and promoting Calgary’s historic places. In 2019, the Calgary Heritage Authority rebranded as Heritage Calgary and now serves as a civic partner, advising city council on matters related to heritage and maintaining Calgary’s Inventory of Evaluated Historic Resources.Commissioned with support from the Alberta Real Estate Foundation and Chalmers Heritage Conservation, the report examines how heritage conservation has developed in Calgary, including the policies, partnerships, and community efforts that have shaped the city’s built environment over time.
For CREB® members, the report offers valuable insight into heritage properties and the communities they’re part of. A stronger understanding of Calgary’s built history can support more informed conversations with clients, particularly when working with older or historically significant homes.
The full report is now available on Heritage Calgary’s website.
