Builder's Corner: Calbridge Homes racks up accolades in its 40th year

To say that Calgary's Calbridge Homes excels at luxury design might be a bit of an understatement. For evidence, one need not look any further than the company's latest hospital lottery show home in Mahogany.

The home brims with indoor-outdoor living features, complementing its location just steps from Mahogany Lake. With more than 5,500 square feet of living space, this light-filled home showcases a stunning open-to-below great room and plenty of al fresco living space, including a semi-covered outdoor dining room.

"We are really known as an estate builder," said Michelle Jakeman, director of sales and marketing for Calbridge Homes. "That is really our bread and butter. But that said, we are in all segments of the market – from multi-family starting in the $200,000s, all the way up to our custom homes on Mahogany Island that can reach upwards of $4 million."
"The lottery homes really give people an idea of the scope of what we can do with a custom-built home." - Michelle Jakeman, Calbridge Homes

The lottery home is valued at $2.6 million, the most valuable yet, and Calbridge has been the builder partner of the Calgary Health Trust's Hospital Home Lottery programs since 2010.

"The lottery homes really give people an idea of the scope of what we can do with a custom-built home," said Jakeman.

This spring, Calbridge came out on top at the BILD Calgary Region Awards, receiving multiple honours that included single-family builder of the year. This industry recognition comes while Calbridge is celebrating its 40th anniversary. The milestone is being commemorated with a new website, designed to reach out to the growing demographic that researches and shops for everything online.

But Jakeman says the company's most coveted accolade this year was winning BILD Alberta's Community Service Award, which was presented to 11 builders who each pledged $1.4 million to Calgary's RESOLVE Campaign to end homelessness.

Calbridge is breaking ground in January on the eighth building in the project, a multi-family residence in Forest Lawn that will provide 38 homes to people in need.

"Giving back is and always has been top of mind for us," said Jakeman.
