Builder's Corner: Gems Series from Trico Homes brings innovative new-home options to Redstone

Trico Homes recently introduced five new home designs that are garnering interest from a broad spectrum of buyers. The Gems Series, an enclave collection of 80 homes in the established northeast community of Redstone, features innovative architecture and interiors that stand out from the pack.

"We identified a real gap in what many families wanted in a home and what we were able to offer in a traditional Calgary neighbourhood," said Wanda Palmer, vice-president of marketing for Trico Homes. "The inspiration came from our buyers and REALTOR® partners."

The Gems Series features a wide-shallow design, with home widths hovering between 28 and 36 feet – almost one-third wider than traditional home designs. The two-storey plans allow for a high degree of flexibility that will appeal to many demographics and family configurations.

The Gems can accommodate up to five bedrooms and three full baths above grade. Double-master options, as well as a bedroom and full bath on the main floor, make the design perfect for multi-generational families. Some designs also offer legal basement suite options.

But what really sets these homes apart is the streetscape. The wider design integrates the front-drive garage into the facade, allowing for a veranda and a more inner-city style of housing – one that draws families out to chat with neighbours.

"The design also incorporates more windows across the front and rear of the homes, so the interiors are very bright and open," said Palmer.

She also notes that a staircase configuration at the rear of the home instead of the front is appealing to homebuyers.

Homes range from 1,720 to 2,356 square feet. Five different models are available, including both front-drive garage designs and laned homes. Spice kitchens, flex rooms and parking for up to six vehicles are a few additional perks.

Interior finishes include granite or quartz countertops in the kitchen and bathrooms, and designer colour packages.

Ten of the homesites also front onto a central community park, so buyers have green space, trees and natural beauty at their doorstep.

"Every home also has a rear lane, which is very unique, as it creates more space and separation between you and your neighbour," said Palmer.

Homes in the Gems Series start at $425,000, including home, lot and GST.
