Builder's Corner: Avi Urban's Livingston multi-family projects meld pioneer spirit with modern design

Avi Urban, the multi-family arm of award-winning builder Homes by Avi, has recently launched two innovative projects in Calgary's new northern community of Livingston.

The Maverick is a 177-unit condo development set across three four-storey buildings that feature modern, prairie-inspired elevations, while the Jasper is a farmhouse-themed townhome project offering 42 one-level flats, all with garages and direct entry.

"Both names evoke a sense of the pioneer spirit that settled the West," said Karen Payne, area sales manager for both projects.

Location, design and price point are key to the appeal of these developments.

Situated in the heart of Livingston, a 519-hectare community master-planned by Brookfield Residential, the Maverick and the Jasper are both surrounded by amenities. Payne says a proposed Green Line LRT station, an urban shopping district, the future North Health Campus hospital, six school sites, a recreation facility, and a central location offering easy access to Stoney Trail, Deerfoot Trail and the airport make the community stand out.

Much like the inspiration behind their names, the Jasper and the Maverick exhibit bold and innovative architecture. Clean lines and pops of bright colour add distinctive appeal – buyers can even choose their own front door colour.

The Maverick's soft grey exterior accentuates the buildings clean lines. Interest is achieved with corrugated metal detailing and colour blocking. Together, the project's three buildings create a U-shape around a pet-friendly, landscaped park dotted with benches and walking paths.

Home designs in the Maverick range from 542 to 974 square feet, with 12 unique one- and two-bedroom plans available. All boast luxury finishes and thoughtful, functional use of space, including large balconies.

The Maverick's second building recently launched, offering a selection of 59 homes starting at $162,000, including an indoor parking stall, storage and GST.

For those looking for a townhome design, Jasper provides a sleek and urban take on the concept. Home designs are varied, with four unique plans that range from 643 square feet to 1,224 square feet. Pricing starts at $197,000, including GST.

There are one-bedroom/one-bathroom and two-bedroom/one-bathroom floor plans available, both with single-car garages, as well as two- and three-bedroom designs with double-car garages.

Perfect for warm summer nights, all homes feature either a large patio or terrace. Finishes include luxury vinyl plank flooring; flat-slab, full-height kitchen cabinetry; and stainless-steel appliances.
